Dr. Hyun J. Bang was raised in Northern Virginia. He attended the University of Virginia where his passion for medicine began as a research assistant while earning a degree in Economics. He then earned his medical degree from St George’s University School of Medicine. Dr. Bang completed his residency in radiology at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. While in residency, Dr. Bang had the opportunity to train under his long-time mentor Dr. Peter Littrup at the Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit, Michigan. There he focused on localized regional therapy options for advanced cancer patients. After residency, Dr. Bang accepted a fellowship in interventional radiology at the prestigious Miami Cardiac and Vascular Institute in Miami, Florida where he specialized in the latest endovascular surgical techniques.
In 2016 Dr. Bang had the opportunity to move back home to the Washington, DC area where he founded and started the Capitol Vascular and Oncology Institute. As Medical Director, Dr. Bang has developed one of the premier endovascular surgical and interventional oncology programs in the area. Dr. Bang is board certified by the American Board of Radiology. In his free time, Dr. Bang lives an active lifestyle traveling and enjoying the outdoors with his wife and 2 kids
