ABOUT CAPITOL VASCULAR & ONCOLOGY INSTITUTE

    Peripheral Arterial Disease

Peripheral arterial disease occurs when plaque builds up in the arteries in your legs that carry oxygen and nutrient-rich blood from your heart throughout your body. The plaque is known as atherosclerosis and forms gradually along the artery walls.

    Wounds and Ulcers

Wounds on the lower leg are often caused by problems with veins or arteries, or a combination of both. The further away from the heart that the wound is located, the longer wounds may take to heal.

    Deep Vein Thrombosis

This is a condition in which blood clots form spontaneously in the deep veins of the lower or upper limbs. The deep veins of the limbs serve to carry
de-oxygenated blood back to the heart and lungs.

    Knee Pain

There are many treatment options for chronic knee pain including pain killers, joint injections and total knee replacement surgery; however, the majority of these treatment options only proved temporary relief of the patient’s knee pain symptoms.

    Oncology

Oncology is a medical specialty that focuses on diagnosing, treating, and preventing cancer. Cancer occurs when abnormal cells replicate uncontrollably and spread throughout the body. Recent discoveries in genetics and biology have revolutionized cancer care. Today, many types of cancer are treatable.

    Uterine Fibroids

Fibroids are benign, non-cancerous growths that frequently develop within the walls of the uterus. Fibroids can range in size from less than an inch across to more than six inches.
